Deadmau5 & Kaskade - I Remember

Sit back. Relax. Close your eyes and just let the beat engulf you. And if you don’t know the commandments…now you know!

Fitz and The Tantrums - Moneygrabber

I have been a fan of this classic soul sound inspired revival that’s been going on for the past couple years. The likes of Mayer Hawthorne and these guys make it nice to drift down memory lane with thoughts of dancing around my house while doing chores with the family. Did anyone else notice the lack of a lead guitar? Hotness.

St. Vincent - 4AD Session

Annie Clark and her band St. Vincent performed four tracks from “Strange Mercy”. The amazing flow of sounds and beats and rhythms is like racing downstream on rapids that seem to carry you at will where they like. I found myself going with the flow as opposed to fighting the current. Annie’s finger play on the guitar is nothing short of “mesmerizing” and “hypnotic” and I became an instant fan.

Lovage - Sex (I’m A)

I was tasked with helping a good friend find a song to go with a writing piece they are working on. Tell me if you can guess what the piece was about. This song “throbs” at the seams with passion, funkiness and heat. It drips with a beat that you just cannot help but wiggle to. I dare you not to.

Elvis Costello & Burt Bacharach - God Give Me Strength

Since the first time I heard “Veronica” and “Watching The Detectives” I have been a huge Elvis fan. There has always been something soulful and poetic about his voice. An “everyman” voice with surges of power and grace, carrying you high and sweeping you low in your musical journey. “God Give Me Strength” coupled with Burt’s sweet lofty touches on the ivories makes feel the anguish, the pain, the hurt that Elvis wrestles with. Give me strength.

The Best Band You Never Heard Of:

Nizlopi and their BalconyTV interview. Charming gents and an AWESOME performance.

The Best Band That You Never Heard Of…

Nizlopi - Freedom

On 10 February 2010 an e-mail was sent out to all mailing list subscribers of Nizlopi confirming that the band had split up after being together for 17 years. It broke my heart to hear this because I had just discovered them by chance a couple months prior. A very unique two-man band out of the UK, the vocals are haunting, inspiring, heart-felt and powerful on a level that I was not ready for. I hope there’s a reunion sometime soon.

Secret Frequency Crew – Gold

A nice spin of chillaxing grooves to welcome in the bleak, gray and lovely veil of clouds and cool air. It’s been way too long Autumn. I missed you.

The Dramatics - In The Rain

Perfect song to kick off this wet and dreary Monday morning. Nothing like some good soul and bad weather to make you wanna just stay home…
